Hello!!

Well, hello!

I am sorry for so long in between posts--internet connection at home is not always great, and work has been SO busy!

Cadie and I went to Homer, AK for the 4th of July---it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen! The mountains were so pretty and being on the ocean was so cool.. We camped on the beach for 8 bucks a night, and just had a nice time hanging out. We walked by all the boats on the pier, and looked for members from the Deadliest Catch!

Pearl liked it too--she ate some shrimp she found and some other miscellaneous shells.... she is a little stinker!

Weather here has been rainy, but not terrible. A little cold (upper 50's) but we did get to 75 the other day, and man, that was hot!

Work has been so so so busy. New referrals left and right, and I have been seeing lots of kids. We get to take them to the park, so on a nice day, it is cool to be outside doing therapy!

Snoop Dogg is coming to Anchorage, and I really hope to go--how random he is coming here, but how cooll too! Anchorage is pretty hip after all!

I really am trying to keep up with this.... I am sorry for being so late :(

Miss you all lots.

Busy Bee!

Wow... sorry it has been so long!

Things have been so busy--I feel that as soon as I wake up, its time to get right back into bed. Work has been great, but a lot of work. My caseload has been filling up a lot faster than I expected, and the paperwork...well... thats another post in itself! I have been seeing a lot of interesting kids; lots of syndromes/drugs/etc. It has been more emotionally exhausting then I realized... I thought I was prepared, but sometimes houses I go into just shock me. I'm just glad I can do something to help!

Went to a training in Fairbanks.... and well, there is not much to report about Fairbanks--it's not a "must see." It was nice to hang out with people from work, so I was glad for that! I did do a hike around a bird observatory, so that was interesting. I got bit up by mosquitos, so a bummer, and the mosquitos here are HUGE!

Last weekend was summer solstice, so downtown was jammed! It was cold and rainy though, so we didn't stay too long; but it was cool to see all the action. It is still really hard to get used to the sun all the time; sleeping is a challenge.. although now with all these kids I am seeing, it is getting much easier to get to sleep!

I did get my first big girl paycheck; and I bought what I always wanted: a pair of puma shoes. I found them for 75% off, so they were only like 20 bucks! Too good to be true. Now with my shoes and Subaru Forester, I have all I have ever wanted... well.. excpet for Cubs Season Tickets!

Aunt Eileen did send me a Blackhawks Championship T-Shirt, so needless to say, I have been wearing that almost everyday!

I am taking more pictures, and will put more up soon I promise! I will put them on Facebook too; it's so funny driving to Target with these massive mountains in the backgroud--no big deal, just another day in Anchorage!

I miss you all

Some Pictures

Here are a few pictures--more to come! We have all these word magnets on our fridge and I made a quote I really like, my first one:

Isn't it true?

OMG, I live in Alaska!?

Well, I think it just hit me--I live in Alaska!

First week of work was good--always glad to get it over with. Everyone has been really nice, and has made me feel really welcome. It will be nice to build a caseload and start doin' my thannnng

The weekend could not have been better. Cadie and I headed down to Girdwood, Alaska--about 40 miles south of Anchorage. It was the most beautiful drive I have ever done. The mountains are just gigantic and you drive all along the ocean--really breathtaking. There are waterfalls coming out of the mountains, so you see them as you drive along

We did a hike called "Winner Creek Gorge"--OMG! It was incredible. We went deep into the forest, and over Glacier Creek--at one point in the hike, we had to cross the river using a hand tram--what is that? No idea. All i know is that we had to get in this crate and manually pull ourselves across the river-quite the experience...and quite the workout. Pearl loved it--hiked all 6 miles and could have gone all day! She is a trooper. Much better than her mom.

Then on Sunday we walked downtown to the mall--outside all you see is a JCPenney sign so we didnt think much--think again! It is a 4 story mall and has everything--just like a Woodfield, but well, not so so so big! Watched the hawks, what a game! It is so exciting.

Anchorage is getting its first IMAX theatre this week--creating a lot of buzz--it is really cute how excited they are--I am too! So they are playing old movies to lead up to the opening with 2 dollar tickets, so I will be hittin that up this week!

Weather is great--64 and sunny today, so beautiful out. Almost done with work...

First Day in the Books!

Today was my first day of work, what an incredible day! I got there at 8, and was greeted by everyone with hugs--they were all so excited to have me there, I felt like a celebrity! Everyone was so nice, and they just seem like a great bunch to bee around.

They showed me my office; so cool. I even have a phone. And... they bought me a brand new computer!! How cool is that. Did the paperwork..blah, but then got to go on a home visit.

Family was in a hotel, but they were incredible. I love being around people who just totally love their children. In an economy like ours, my heart just broke a little, but I know that they are in good hands, and that everything is going to work. They are truly inspiring.

It rained today, but it was kind of refreshing. Kinley did get a little dirty... almost 200 miles on him already, how they grow up so fast.

I felt a little homesick today--just wanted to celebrate my cool day with all of you, but... soon.... I can afford to come visit :)

I'm off to fill out my insurance paperwork.. I'm taking bidders on who wants to be my beneficiary... bidding starts at $250 :)

Peace, Love, and Moose

So far, So good!

Well, I have been in Alaska for over a week now, and what can I say? I am completely in love. What a state. I never thought I would visit this place, let alone, live in it!

The weather has been gorgeous; 70's everyday with the sun shining! Pearl and I have been hiking the costal trail--she loves it. She always finds a dandelion patch to gorge herself on--she thinks she hit the jackpot!

I am still waiting for her to see a moose; as exciting as I am to see her see one, I know she is going to bark like crazy at it, and well, you can imagine what might go down.

Tomorrow I start my first day of work! Bring it on. It is about time. I am excited to meet everyone and to get a paycheck!

Going to bed is so hard--the sun shines all day, so I have so much added energy. I think it will be awhile to get used to it, but it is really neat to be in a place like this. Everyone is out all the time. I'm thinking about going to Seward this weekend, looks beautiful! We will see how the week goes.

Well, I hope this takes off like Julie and Julia and I eventually get my own movie. Maybe I will start making salmon recipes that sweep the nation--you never know! Or I will just wait to be on the Real Housewives of Anchorage (guest spot, not an actual wife--no worries everyone!)

Go Hawks!!
